Finally the template of Bookmark Doll (Boneka Pembatas Buku) is done, but I release it without the intructions :) :P.

Who here still folds the edge of the paper as a barrier to reading a book? Ouch.. what a shame! Paper that is folded at the edges or even half a sheet to limit the pages we have read from those that will be read can damage the paper. From the folds, it will cause scars that are not good to look at, and even easily torn if you fold it too deep.

I usually use bookmarks to remind me how many pages I've read. Even in the past until the collection of various types of bookmarks. But do not know the origin of the bookmarks like what. From a creative plot point, I found an interesting article on this subject. Here's the information!

Bookmarks are usually made of thick paper or card, faux leather, or cloth. The point is to be a marker and make it easier for readers to return to the last page read.

Bookmarks have been around since the Middle Ages. Previously, it was in the form of a small parchment fin attached to a folio book. Books are still valuable because only the upper-middle class can afford them.

The border of the book was then perfected in the late 16th century and it is said that Queen Elizabeth I was the first to have it. Modern bookmarks are available in a variety of materials, designs, and styles. Most of the bookmarks are made of cardboard. Other variations are made of pots, beads, plastic, and even special gemstone products.

The new bookmarks were widely circulated in 1750, usually already contained in the book. One of the bookmarks can be found in the book Recollections of a Literary Life by Mary Russell Mitford (1852). In the past, the term bookmark in English was a “marker”, not a “bookmark”. The bookmarks of books of historical value (such as manuscripts) also have historical value, so they are often collected.

In the 1960s, bookmark printing machines were produced in Coventry, UK, which became the center of the silk ribbon industry. One of the first bookmarks was produced by the J&J company. Furthermore, Thomas Stevens' company, in Coventry, controlled the bookmarks market and acknowledged that it had produced 900 different designs.

Picture book borders with knitting decorations were also produced by Thomas Stevens in 1862, and of this type are called Stevengraphs. Certain types of bookmarks become special gifts during the holidays and Steven seems to deliberately make special editions depending on certain moments.

Bookmarks in the 19th century were mostly made for Bible markers and prayer books, usually made of ribbon, woven silk, or leather. In the 1880s, the production of woven silk declined and eventually many bookmarks were printed in the form of paper or cardboard.

The development of bookmarks parallels the development of the book industry itself, each production increases sharply and creates complementary relationships.
