Why is Darth Vader the most popular villain?

Star Wars Fans and film lovers never stop talking about this legendary film. This December, Lucasfilm presented us with Rogue One: Star Wars Story which is a spin-off that bridges episodes 3 and 4.

What makes Rogue One so special is the appearance of the most interesting character in Star Wars, namely Darth Vader. Fan or not, people know Darth Vader as the villain in this film and idolize him. However, those who don't know Star Wars, don't know why Darth Vader is idolized and famous? Here's why:

1. Villains that exist from generation to generation.

The figure of Darth Vader has appeared in the public eye from 1977 until now. So, don't be surprised if your parents or the generation above you know and idolize this one villain.

2. The background of the character is powerful.

Chronologically, Darth Vader experienced many events that shaped him to be like this. Starting from the murder of his mother, losing his wife, to thinking that his child was not saved. How he got his powers and skills is now told in Star Wars 1-3.

3. The power he has.

Anakin was born miraculously without a father so that he was different from other children. When Qui-Gon Jin learns of Anakin's power, he asks Obi-Wan Kenobi to train him to be a good Jedi. But unfortunately, Anakin was seduced by the power of the Dark Side and abused its power.

4. Because of his strength, the crimes he committed were also not half-hearted.

Because of his immense power, he also does not half-heartedly kill anyone who gets in his way. The real example is seen in the last scene of Rogue One, where he kills one by the rebel alliance soldiers with great ease.

5. Even though he is evil, deep inside him is a good person.

Even though Darth Vader is a bad person, he still has some good in him. In Star Wars 6: Return of the Jedi, Darth Vader even kills Palpatine to save his tortured son. There is still the instinct of a father embedded in this galaxy villain.

The point is, don't be surprised anymore why Darth Vader is a very well-liked villain. Although compared to other film antagonists, Vader's very complex and cool character background makes him win.
