The Yakovlev Yak-100 is a single-engine transport helicopter, developed in the Soviet Union in 1948. It is the second helicopter of the Yakovlev Design Bureau.

The Yak-100 (originally designated Yak-22) was developed in direct competition with the Mikhail Mil Mi-1. Carrying a striking resemblance to the Sikorsky H-5 (purely coincidence) the Yak-100 has a conventional main and anti-torque rotor configuration, driven by the Ivchenko AI-26GRFL. The pilot and crew/passengers sit under the old-style greenhouse canopy, enjoying excellent visibility.

Test flights progressed rapidly, with nearly ubiquitous vibrations being dealt with by moving the center of gravity of the main propellers behind their bending axes. The Manufacturer's Trial was completed in June 1950, with a successful trial following state acceptance later that year.

Despite success in trials, the Yak-100 was not put into production as the Mi-1 was equally successful already being prepared for production before the Yak-100 had completed acceptance tests. The second prototype had 3 seats as well as other minor improvements. (wikipedia)
