Akaza Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) Papercraft by June

Besides Enmu, there is also Akaza who is a threat in the film. Are you curious about him? You can check the following Akaza facts!

Just a warning: a lot of the information below has not been revealed in the anime version. So watch out for spoilers.

For those of you who have already read the manga, or haven't read the manga but are curious, you can check below.

1. He is Upper Moon 3

Throughout season 1, we are shown demons whose positions are Lower Moon in 12 Kizuki Muzan.

One of the most prominent is Rui, the Lower Moon 5. A figure that Giyu can overcome easily, but makes Tanjiro desperately. The remaining Lower Moon then appears at the end of the season, where all of them are slaughtered except for Enmu Muzan.

Well, this Akaza is ranked Upper Moon 3. In terms of strength, he far surpasses Rui and Enmu. In the hierarchy of 12 Kizuki alone, the only demons above Akaza are Doma and Kokushibou.

2. The devil who doesn't want to eat women

Even though he is a demon who doesn't hesitate to kill humans, Akaza still has some kind of moral value. It doesn't eat women.

The reason for this decision seemed to be Akaza's own past. Even though he had forgotten, his past was still so deeply rooted that he was still able to establish it.

3. The secret of the technique is reading the determination to kill the enemy

This Akaza is dangerous. In addition to demonic power, he also has martial abilities. Even a Hashira will have trouble dealing with it.

The secret of Akaza's technique is that he can predict the enemy's attack by reading his opponent's killing intent.

Akaza becomes easier to deal with if the enemy can remove the radiance of killing intent. He couldn't even anticipate an attack that could be fatal to him. Like a slash to the neck.

4. One of the 12 Kizuki that caused the death of a Hashira

The top three of Kizuki's Upper Moon 12 all caused Hashira's death.

As for Akaza, he was the one who caused the fatal injuries that eventually killed Kyojuro Rengoku.

This makes Giyu and Tanjiro's fight against Akaza even more emotional.

5. One of the demons that can survive even after having their neck cut

For most demons, when their throats were severed by the sword of Nichirin, they would die.

But there can be demons who can overcome that weakness. Muzan Kibutsuji is one of them.

Well, Akaza turned out to be almost at that level of power. When fighting Giyu and Tanjiro, his neck had been slashed. Then his head was thrown by a sword until he fell, as he tried to keep his head pressed against his neck. But he can still survive.

If only Akaza continued to live, he could become a dangerous enemy. Because then the only thing that could kill him could be the sun.

But then… it was Akaza himself who made sure he died

6. A sad story about Akaza's past

You could say, Akaza is one of the demons with the most tragic past story in Kimetsu no Yaiba.

He was originally a young man named Hakuji. When he was a child, Hakuji stole so he could get medicine for his sick father. But his father committed suicide after hearing that Hakuji was arrested. The father conveys in his last message that he does not want to live on money stolen from others, and hopes that Hakuji can live an honest life.

Hakuji then gets a chance to live a normal life after meeting Keizou, a martial arts expert. Akaza even then has a lover, Koyuki, the son of Keizou.

But then Keizou and Koyuki died from being poisoned by the jealous dojo. Hakuji goes on a rampage and kills 67 members of the rival dojo.

Muzan then found Hakuji and turned him into a demon. Then, the longer he was a demon, the more Hakuji forgot his own past.

Why does Akaza hate weak people? The weaklings he despised were actually figures like members of a rival dojo, who poisoned Keizou and Koyuki because they couldn't defeat Keizou head-on.

But he seemed to be able to remember that after being punched by Tanjiro.

After being hit by Tanjiro in battle, Akaza realized that he had soiled his master's martial arts technique. He also in the end disobeyed his father's will.

This is truly a tragedy in layers until the end of his life. That's it, then Hakuji went to hell too. Even though Koyuki followed him there, if we look at the incident in chapter 157, where Koyuki was seen hugging Haku.
