 The M16 (known as the Rifle, 5.56 mm caliber, M16) is the United States military designation for the AR-15 rifle. Colt purchased the rights to the AR-15 from ArmaLite and currently uses the designation only for the semi-automatic version of the rifle. The M16 rifle fires using a 5.56x45mm Magazine and can produce a major wounding effect when the bullet impacts at high speed and the patch in the network causes fragmentation and fast transfer of energy.

The M16 rifle entered service with the United States Army and was deployed for jungle warfare operations in South Vietnam in 1963, becoming the standard US rifle of the Vietnam War in 1969, replacing the M14 rifle in that role. US troops still used the M14 rifle in Conus, Europe, and South Korea until 1970. Since the Vietnam War, the M16 family of rifles has been the primary rifle of the US military infantry. With its variants (M16A1, M16A2, M16A3, and M16A4), it has been used by nearly a hundred countries. Worldwide production The number of M16-style guns since the inception of the design has been around 8 million, making it the most widely produced firearm in its caliber. This is a paper model of the 1960's era M16A1, including the M203 grenade launcher.
The
receiver and associated modular parts are based on my previous
AR-15-pattern models, representing the fourth generation (V4) of a long
project that has undergone several stages. The level of detail and build
sturdiness have been improved, to include some notable features like
modeled cartridges, magazine catch, and so on. A minimum complete build
takes 37 pages.
