The Jagdpanzer 38(t) (Sd.Kfz. 138/2, originally known as Panzerjäger 38(t) and often referred to as "Hetzer" after the war) was a light tank destroyer made in Nazi Germany during the Second World War. This tank is based on the Czechoslovakian Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) chassis with several modifications, especially on the tank body.

German armored forces in World War II made various vehicles by placing anti-tank guns on the chassis of tanks that were previously considered less effective. These types of vehicles perform better than imagined, but are vulnerable to enemy attacks due to the relatively high profile of the vehicle and the lack of open top/roof protection. Allied bombing had an adverse effect on German production facilities. Because of this, Germany needed a more effective and easy to manufacture tank destroyer to replace the StuG III and Marder series. The Jagdpanzer 38(t) prototype was completed in 1944 and mass production began in April of the same year.

The entire armor of the Jagdpanzer 38(t) uses sloped armor which increases the effectiveness of repelling enemy bullets. This tank also has a simple design and is quite small, so it has better camouflage and hiding capabilities than other self-propelled vehicles. The armament of the tank is a turretless 7.5 cm Pak 39 L/48 gun (cannon mounted on the tank hull) and a remotely controlled MG 34 machine gun. This tank has a crew of 4 people, each of which serves as a commander (as well as radio operator), gunner, loader, and driver.

The Jagdpanzer 38(t) was first put into service in July 1944, and was incorporated into units such as the infantry divisions, Panzerjäger and Volksgrenadier. BMM and Skoda continued to modify and improve the performance of the Jagdpanzer 38(t) while producing more than 2,800 tanks. Due to its ease of production, the Jagdpanzer 38 was used as the main German tank destroyer in the final period of the war and became one of the tanks that played an important role on the Eastern and Western Fronts.
