Gear Fighter Dendoh is an anime series that aired in Japan. It ran for 38 episodes, from October 4, 2000 to June 27, 2001, on the TV Tokyo network and its affiliates.

Gear Fighter Dendoh tells the story of two Japanese schoolgirls—the grumpy Ginga Izumo and the level-headed Hokuto Kusanagi—who encounter each other one day, just minutes before Earth is attacked by Galfa (sometimes translated as Gulfer or Garufa), a race of living machines bent on to wipe out all life in the universe. Amid this chaos, the two are chosen by Dendoh, a giant robot built to fight Galva, to be their pilots, causing them to become members of the Earth Guard and Advanced Reconnaissance organization designated to protect Earth from Galfa's attacks. . The two young pilots race to acquire the powerful, animal-like Data Weapons before Galfa can get them.

The show was directed and plotted by Mitsuo Fukuda and his wife (finally in 2006), Chiaki Morosawa, the duo who went on to create Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and its sequel Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. Notably, Morosawa is not the only main scriptwriter for Dendoh but shares duties with Yasuko Kobayashi, previously known for writing on the Toei Super Sentai Franchise.
