Akagi Aircraft Carrier Papercraft Models

The carrier Akagi was an aircraft carrier belonging to the Imperial Japanese Navy and was in service during World War II.

Originally, the Akagi was an Amagi-class battlecruiser ship. After that, the ship was converted into an aircraft carrier while still under construction to comply with the provisions of the Washington Naval Treaty.

This aircraft carrier served as a proxy for all the forces of the Japanese Empire in launching attacks on Pearl Harbor.

Akagi was the most formidable force of his time. In addition, the commanders and crew of the ship showed courage, namely by attacking the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor which is very far from Japan.

Extraordinary steps are required to perform such a feat. Like filling the water tank with fuel to expand the range of the ship.

The Pearl Harbor Expedition uncovered the logistical problems that plagued the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II.

Indeed, the Imperial Japanese Navy never fully mastered the art of replenishment or building sufficient logistics vessels to sustain operations far from base.

As a result, the battle group from Akagi had little time to destroy the infrastructure the US Pacific Fleet needed to fight the war.

On the other hand, Akagi lost in the Battle of Midway. Even so, Akagi proved to be powerful in battle.
