The FIAT 500 in Italy is arguably the "car of a million people" because the population is very large there.
On every street corner, you can easily find the FIAT 500.
The FIAT 500 became the "people's car" in Italy because the goal it was made was to be a cute car that is affordable for everyone.
It was Dante Giacosa (born January 3, 1905, and died March 31, 1996) who designed the FIAT 500.
Dante Giacosa was asked by Giovanni Agnelli, an Italian senator and co-founder of FIAT, to build a car that could carry 2 adults and 2 children at an affordable price in 1929.
In 1936 the car was launched under the name FIAT 500.
Before using this name, the plan was that the car designed by Dante Giacosa would be called Zero A.
However, Italians prefer to call him by the nickname "Topolino".
Topolino is the name of a comic character in Italy who is similar to Mickey Mouse or Mickey Mouse.
In Italian, Topolino means "little mouse".
The FIAT 500 Topolino is equipped with a 569 cc 4-cylinder engine with a 4-speed manual transmission.
This car is powered by 18 hp and can run up to 85 km/hour.
Well, in 1957 Dante Giacosa launched the FIAT Nuova 500 as a replacement for the FIAT 500 Topolino.
Nuova is Italian which translates to "new".
However, Italians prefer to call him "Cinquecento" which is Italian for the number 500.
The FIAT Nuova 500 uses a 479 cc 2-cylinder engine that is placed at the back of the car.
This engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and is capable of producing 13 hp.
The FIAT Nuova 500 is very cute in shape, only 2.97 m long, 1.32 m wide, and 1.32 m high.
The FIAT 500 was produced until 1975 and during that period about 4,000,000 FIAT Nuova 500 units were built.
There are several body types and types of FIAT Nuova 500 made such as estate, panel van, semi-convertible, 500 Sport, 500 D, 500 Giardiniera, 500 Furgoncino, and 500 F aka Berlina.
