FN SCAR-L MK 16 Papercraft Model
Special Operations Forces (SOF) Combat Assault Rifle, abbreviated as SCAR is an assault/combat rifle specially designed to meet the needs of the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) for Special Operations Forces (SOF) Combat Assault Rifle or SCAR made by FN Herstal (FNH).
This rifle is made in two main variants, namely the SCAR-L using 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition and the SCAR-H which uses 7.62×51mm NATO ammunition. Both are available in two barrel sizes, long barrel, and shorter barrel.
Usually, the longer barrel is used for the SCAR-H type while the shorter barrel is used for medium close combat with the SCAR-L type. The SCAR-L variant is expected to replace the M4 assault rifle.
Details
The rifle is made in two models, a "light" ammunition variant or a "Light" version (SCAR-L, Mk 16 Mod 0) and a "Heavy" version (SCAR-H, Mk 17 Mod 0). The L version uses 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition and the M16 rifle STANAG magazine, while the H version uses 7.62×51mm NATO ammunition with a 20-round magazine. Type H can also use 7.62×39mm M43 AK assault rifle ammunition and 6.8×43mm Remington SPC ammunition.
In addition to the two types above, SCAR has also made a sniper variant with the code Mk 20 Sniper Support Rifle (SSR) which uses a 7.62mm caliber ammunition base used by the Mk 17 rifle. The difference is the use of a longer and heavier barrel, a different type of trigger, and a butt. fixed (fixed).
Picatinny rails above the aluminum receiver are standard, while the polymer bottom receiver uses a pistol grip type grip. The folding iron sight at the end of the barrel can be complemented by the placement of accessories and optical sights on the Picatinny rail.
HAMR IAR
In 2008 another variant was created under the name Heat Adaptive Modular Rifle (HAMR) Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR), the IAR was a US Navy requirement for squad automatic rifles. This variant uses the base of the previous SCAR but uses a different and faster firing system and also features reduced heat generated at the end of the barrel.
FNAC
This variant uses the base SCAR Mk 16 Mod 0 with modified rifle weight reduction, the addition of a bayonet, and a single cock lever.
Enhanced Grenade Launching Module
Introduced in 2004 as an add-on. The 40 mm grenade launcher under the name FN40GL also known as the Mk 13 Mod 0 was based on the 'GL1' grenade launcher for the F2000. The FN40GL is made in two variants for the SCAR-L and SCAR-H respectively.
