It has been more than a year since the G-SHOCK model from the Casio brand has existed. His success so far has not been easy. Many twists and turns experienced by the originator of the G-SHOCK watch or commonly referred to as the "Father Of G-SHOCK", Kikuo Ibe was successful as it is today.

This G-SHOCK watch was created by a Casio employee started when he was given a watch by his father, but when he put it on, it fell and shattered into pieces. From there he began to think about creating a watch that is strong and durable.

Ibe, as he is often called, said he was constantly looking for a formula for a durable watch. It didn't work at first and still shattered into pieces when slammed from a height.

"I also made it in a large size but it still fell to pieces. I have also made a watch with rubber and as big as a tennis ball and can only be SHOCK. Finally, I made it in a smaller size," he said.

But unfortunately, when testing on the third-floor toilet and dropping it down, it still doesn't fit.

"This incident made my brain want to explode. I was determined that if I failed again, I would resign from my company," he explained. "I think never give up even though there is a very big problem. That's my motto," he added.

Ibe recounted that, at that time, when he was in the park he saw a small child bouncing a ball, from which he imagined that the bouncing ball contained a watch.

"The answer is clear, watches float. Finally, we can develop a G-SHOCK with vibration absorption resistance and a floating machine structure with point contact," he said.

Finally, in 1983, Casio officially launched the G-SHOCK model in Japan. But uniquely, the marketing was done in the United States and immediately boomed.

"Even Japanese people think that G-SHOCK is an American product because it is growing rapidly there," he said.

This watch has been tested for its strength. Even Ibe said, a television show checked the strength of the watch by hitting and crushing it with a truck but it was still lit and intact.

"G-SHOCK never gives up. The power of G-SHOCK has been proven to be the strongest watch in the world. All the energy is absorbed by G-SHOCK as my body looks small and cute," he said jokingly.

"What I learned from making G-SHOCK is not to give up, when I meet a big problem. Never give up, never give up, never give up. That's my mission," he added.

Ibe said that the G-SHOCK watch took 2.5 years to make. After being accepted by the community, the company produced nearly 300 pieces which were also sent from the third-floor toilet. Uniquely, when checking the watch after it was dropped, the 70-year-old man did not use the elevator, he preferred to use the stairs.

"I feel that if I use the elevator it arrives too fast, and I know more quickly if the watch is broken or not. But when I use the stairs, I feel shocked and think whether my watch is strong enough to withstand or not, and when I see the condition of the watch I already have other ideas to improve," he explained.
