The claim that the record for the fastest car in the world was broken by the Tuatara car made by Shelby Super Cars (SSC) in North America has drawn controversy.

The SSC Tuatara is in danger of being canceled as the fastest car in the world after the validity of its speed has been questioned by many parties.

"Somehow, there was a mix-up on the video editing side. I regret to admit that the SSC team had not double-checked the accuracy of the video before it was released," said SSC founder, Jerod Shelby, as reported by Car and Driver on Monday, November 2, 2020.

Shelby also expressed regret that the video shared with the public did not accurately describe the performance of SSC Tuatara on October 10, 2020.

The recording of the performance test process is handled by Drive Studios, as well as the task of releasing it.

"We will share it as soon as it becomes available," said Shelby.

The SSC Tuatara hypercar performed two performance tests on October 10, 2020, on State Route 160, a suburb of Las Vegas, United States.

The first test of this car recorded 508.73 km/hour, while the second test of the SSC Tuatara achieved 532.93 km/hour.

SSC stated they had completed the record-setting process at a proven pace. They also claim to have all the relevant documentation from the 15 satellite sensors, as well as independent witnesses.

All the evidence was immediately submitted to Guinness for certification of the world record.

Shelby said the good news from the SSC Tuatara's performance test was that the fastest car in the world was held by SSC.

"The bad news is that the depiction of running speed, in video form, is substantially incorrect," said Shelby.
