When Bonn's Kennedy Bridge needed to be renovated in 1993, there were concerns about traffic congestion. As a result, the city of Bonn asked the Bundeswehr if a ferry connection could be established to relieve traffic congestion. Three pioneer ferries of the Bodan MLC 120/60 type began ferry operations between Mondorf and Bonn from May 3rd to July 7th, 1993.

The papercraft model has 542 parts and is scaled at 1:72. The pontoons are individually designed so that the ferry can be assembled in a variety of configurations. This can be accomplished statically by finally gluing them together, or dynamically by gluing neodymium magnets into the pontoons.
