Yamper is a canine quadruped Pokémon. It has a brown body with a collar of yellow fluff around its neck and yellow highlights around its eyes. It has a heart-shaped pattern on its back and a yellow bolt-shaped tail. It has white feet, underside, and parts of its face. The insides of Yamper's ears are a light green and yellow color. It has a small yellow nose as well.

Yamper is drawn to fast-moving objects and will pursue people, other Pokémon, or even vehicles. When Yamper runs, an organ at the base of its tail generates electricity. Because it cannot store the electricity it generates, sparks of electricity can frequently be seen when it is operating. It is a popular choice for herding Pokémon like Wooloo in the Galar region. It will only help people in exchange for treats because of its gluttonous nature. Joltik are frequently seen feeding on its static electricity on its hindquarters.
