In the performance of the license agreement concluded in the fall of 1932 with the Italian concern FIAT, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was launched. - apart from production preparations - for assembly and increased import of certain chassis and vehicles of this company. One of the cars of this group was the FIAT 614 truck with a capacity of 1 ton, unified in most of its elements with the passenger model known in Poland, marked with the symbol 514.

The vehicle had technical solutions typical of the early 1930s (low-valve engine with a long piston stroke, a wood-steel body mounted on a frame with straight longitudinal members, a classic driveline, mechanical brakes, etc.).

The car had a good reputation because it was simple and economical to use.

A certain number (in the first phase, probably 100 units), assembled and imported, type 614 chassis were equipped with PZInż. (according to your design). These were sanitary vehicles intended for the military health service and the Polish Red Cross. The body, as a wood and steel structure (wooden skeleton covered with sheet metal), was high and heavy (weight about 700 kg).

When driving in poor road conditions, deformation of the frame was sometimes observed. In this situation, it became necessary to strengthen the chassis. The design of the spring reinforcement and the assessment of the frame strength was made by Eng. Kazimierz Studziński from the PZInż Studies Office. The paramedic was designed to transport 8 lightly wounded sitting on benches along the walls of the cabin or 4 lying patients (two on a stretcher).

easy access to the medical compartment, separated by a glass wall from the 2-person service compartment (driver and doctor or paramedic), was provided by a double door in the rear wall of the body. Cars were built until the end of 1934 (?). In September 1939, the sanitary FIAT 614 cars were part of almost half of the total number of sanitary columns mobilized full-time by armored battalions.
