1. Not the original mascot
Currently, Pikachu has become the mascot of Pokemon, but actually at first Pikachu was not used as a mascot but a pokemon named Clefairy. However, thanks to the popularity of anime and his close relationship with Ash as the main character in the anime, Pikachu's popularity has skyrocketed.
2. Origin of the name Pikachu
The name Pikachu comes from 2 words, namely "Pika" and "Chu". "Pika" in Japanese is the sound effect produced by lightning and electricity, while "Chu" in Japanese is the sound produced by Rats in Japanese ears. That's why Pikachu is described as a Pokemon in the form of a mouse that can generate electricity.
3. How to tell the difference between male and female Pikachu
In the anime, there is an easy way to determine the gender of Pikachu. We just need to see the shape of the tail, if there is an indentation at the end of the tail forming a heart then it is a female Pikachu, while if it is straight then it is a male Pikachu. In 2001, an island nation called Niue (about 2400 km from New Zealand) released a 1 dollar coin with a Pikachu image on one side.
