Even for a Zora Arkus-Duntov, creating a Mid-Engine Corvette was not an easy process. Duntov as one of the leading drivers has long fallen in love with the Corvette. During his lifetime, he had the idea to design a mid-engine (Mid-Engine) on the Corvette. According to him, this brilliant thought is considered capable of being a solution to the Roadster's weaknesses. Unfortunately, his 23-year career with General Motors (GM) in fact says otherwise, at odds with the history of the Corvette.

However, because Chevrolet still has 11 Prototype models that were indeed created by Duntov, the initial seed of the Mid-Engine, the realization of the car is not impossible. The Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle (CERV) is the first Prototype to have a V8 engine power of 353 HP, created in 1959. Uniquely, this model was kept secret for almost 2 years, before finally appearing at the 1960 US Grand Prix. Duntov also managed to drive it at Pikes Peak as many as 60 times and always set a positive record.
