10 Facts about Douma, the Demon Slayer in Kimetsu no Yaiba

Final Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba season 2 arc The entertainment area introduces one of the strongest demons, namely Douma. This demon is a member of the 12 Kizuki built by Muzan Kibutsuji. There, he occupies the position of the 2nd Upper Devil. He is taller than Akaza or the third strongest demon in the series.

However, Douma will not be the main antagonist in Kimetsu no Yaiba season 3. Instead, that season will introduce two members of the 12 Kizuki who are taller than Gyutaro and Daki. According to the manga, the new Douma will appear later toward the series climax.

Even so, this did not make Douma's figure unattractive. Moreover, so far, little is known about him in the anime. In the manga, his figure has been fully revealed. So, for those of you who don't like spoilers, it's best to just skip this article.

What are some interesting facts about Douma according to the manga Kimetsu no Yaiba? Here's the review! Warning: This article contains spoilers from the manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba! You've been warned!

10. Pity for humans

All demons pity humans and treat them as food. However, Douma took this superiority complex to another level. Douma even goes so far as to shed crocodile tears regarding the situation of mankind.

He even hated the fact that Kizuki's 12 demons could be defeated by a human Demon Slayer. Part of the reason for this personality is that Douma is very intelligent. He believed that most humans were pathetic or stupid.

There's also the fact that he's clinically apathetic. Even before he became a demon, Douma could never truly experience emotions. He was also aware of his condition.

9. Masochist

Nothing is what it seems. Those who saw Douma for the first time probably assumed that he was a good person from the way he spoke and from his appearance. However, if anyone guessed that Douma was a sadomasochist, he might have a talent for psychological profiling.

Douma is a masochist. Sometimes, he even poked holes in his skull with his fingers to fiddle with his brain and trigger memories. There are also instances when he happily anticipated Muzan's punishment after failing his mission because he enjoyed physical abuse.

8. Douma Sect

Douma is an atheist. But, that didn't stop him from developing his sect where the members worshiped him like gods. He referred to this sect as the Eternal Heaven Faith where he would sometimes listen to his followers' wounds and give them advice.

After that, he would choose whoever he would eat. In this way, Douma had a supply of human flesh. The best part was that he didn't have to hunt because they were willing to look for him. That's what made him rise to the position of Upper Demon 2 after starting as Upper Demon 6.

7. Likes to eat young women

followers of the Douma sect are mostly women, especially young women. They are also their choice of prey, which makes them look like the Swamp Devils in the first season. Douma believed that young women's flesh was of high quality.

Another reason was that Douma had a strange belief that he saved all those women from suffering. The trick is to let them "live" in his body. That's why he was seen eating prostitutes before "rescuing" Gyutaro and Daki.

6. Akaza hates him

It's not just humans and Demon Slayers who find Douma's psychotic behavior disturbing. A number of his comrades in 12 Kizuki also don't like his attitude and preferences. The most vocal among them is Akaza.

Akaza's principles of which humans kill and eat clash with the mischievous Douma. Akaza refuses to kill or eat women despite knowing that it will make him stronger. He only kills and eats his victims who fight him to a certain degree. Hence, he sometimes gets angry at Douma and even attacks Douma with a death blow. Douma as he enjoyed the interaction.

5. His weapon is a war fan

Most of the Upper Devils have favorite weapons like Gyutaro with his scythe and Daki with his obi. Meanwhile, Douma has a Japanese war fan. Japanese war fans are often used as a defensive weapon to repel sword attacks.

In some cases, they can be used as weapons because they are made of metal or wood. On Douma, he used this fan as a knife. They seemed to be made from his flesh even though the fan was golden. This fan is sharp enough to be able to cut objects. This fan can also be used to hit and dodge Nichirin's sword.

4. His Demon Blood Spell is cytokinesis

Douma's Demon Blood Spell relies heavily on generating cold temperatures. The devil's special ability is cytokinesis. He can create ice from his flesh and blood. This ice can be shaped according to Douma's wishes. He used this ability extensively and skillfully.

He can create ice that he can weaponize, such as stalagmites or spikes. Douma was also able to freeze the surrounding air, enough to stiffen and sway even Inosuke's movements. Douma could use his battle fan to cultivate his Demon Blood Spell.

3. Killing Inosuke's mother Inosuke

's past has not been revealed much. However, his battle with Douma reveals a few of its origins. As it turned out, one of the women Douma drew into his sect was Inosuke's mother, Kotoha Hashibira. He had no choice because he ran away from his abusive family. Unfortunately, Kotoha was too sharp. Finally, he finds out that Douma killed and preyed on members of his sect.

So, he tried to run away with Inosuke who was still a baby. However, Douma found him and claimed to eat him to the bone. Fortunately, Kotoha managed to save Inosuke by throwing him into the river.

2. Killing Shinobu Kocho

Inosuke, Kanao Tsuyuri, and Shinobu Kocho against Douma in the final chapters of the manga. Shinobu is known to be the fastest Hashira. However, his speed was no match for Douma.

One Upper Demon could even attack him like he was a child. After killing Shinobu, Douma absorbs it as an alternative to eating his victims. Shinobu's death was tragic. Several years before the current line in Kimetsu no Yaiba, Shinobu's older brother, Hashira Bunga Kanae, was also killed by Douma.

1. Killed Inosuke and Kanao

Shinobu doesn't give up without fighting. He sacrificed himself by allowing himself to be absorbed by Douma so that Inosuke and Kanao could finally behead the demon that Muzan had built. After Douma absorbs it, Shinobu can poison Douma.

This weakened Douma to the point where his immense strength and status as an Over 2 Devil could be dealt with by Inosuke and Kanao, both of whom were already at Hashira's level by then. Despite losing a Hashira in the process of killing Douma, this was still a victory for the Demon Slayer corps. However, Douma was certainly not happy about having to die at the hands of “only” humans.
