Gloster Meteor F.MK 8 Papercraft Model by Yoav Hozmi
The Gloster Meteor F.MK 8 was a British jet fighter aircraft that was used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and other air forces in the 1950s. It was the first British jet fighter and the Allies' only jet aircraft to achieve combat operations during World War II. The Meteor F.MK 8 was a development of the earlier Meteor F.MK 4 and F.MK 7 models, and featured a number of improvements and modifications, including an enlarged tail fin and rudder, a revised cockpit layout, and the ability to carry a wider range of weapons.
The Meteor F.MK 8 was powered by two Rolls-Royce Derwent 8 engines, which provided it with a top speed of around 500 mph (800 km/h). It had a range of around 700 miles (1,100 km) and could reach altitudes of up to 45,000 feet (13,700 m). The Meteor F.MK 8 was armed with four 20 mm Hispano cannon and could carry a variety of bombs and rockets.
The Meteor F.MK 8 served with the RAF and other air forces around the world, including the Australian, Belgian, Canadian, and South African air forces. It saw action in a number of conflicts, including the Korean War and the Suez Crisis. The Meteor F.MK 8 was eventually retired from service in the 1960s, with many of the surviving aircraft being used for various experimental and research projects.
