For those of you who follow the Attack on Titan anime, of course, you are familiar with the figures of Mikasa Ackerman and Levi Ackerman, right? Yep, they are arguably one of the favorite characters of Attack on Titan anime fans even though they don't hold the status as the main characters. This is because they are both described as badass warriors with great fighting abilities.

The factor that makes Mikasa and Levi seem overpowered even with shifters is that they both come from the Ackerman clan. The reason is, several facts make their clan called the strongest in the Attack on Titan anime universe. If you could say they have a superpower, you know!

Well, below paper hOles will discuss a series of facts why the Ackerman clan can be overpowered or OP in the anime Attack on Titan. Come on, see!

1. Clans that are Experimental Results

In the continuation of the Attack on Titan anime story, we are only introduced to three characters from the Ackerman clan. The three figures are Mikasa Ackerman, Levi Ackerman, and also Kenny Ackerman who is Levi's uncle. However, about hundreds of years ago before the anime timeline began, the number of members of the Ackerman clan could be said to be very large.

The Ackerman clan also came from the Eldia race, just like all the people living on Paradis Island or those living in the Liberio Zone in Marley country. They also have Subjects of Ymir's blood so that they can turn into Pure Titans if injected with Titan serum like the Eldia in general.

However, there is one thing that distinguishes the Ackerman clan from other Eldians. This is because they are an accidental experiment conducted by the Kingdom of Eldia by combining the Subjects of Ymir with Titan science. Well, the overpowered ability of the Ackerman clan is also related to this experiment.

2. Guard Soldiers of the Royal Family

As discussed above, the Ackerman clan is the result of experiments conducted by the Eldia Kingdom. This was done by the Kingdom of Eldia to create a group of soldiers whose duty was to protect the supreme leader of their kingdom and also become the right hand of the kingdom. Therefore, the Ackerman clan was considered a warrior family.

The loyalty of the Ackerman clan to the Eldia Kingdom is also very large. The reason is, after the defeat of the Eldia Kingdom in the Great Titan War, the Ackerman clan is still loyal to the royal family and follows them to survive on Paradis Island. They even remained when several great walls on Paradis Island were erected by the Eldia Kingdom.

Then, the title as a soldier is still owned by the Ackerman clan hundreds of years later. This can be seen from Mikasa and Levi who are part of the Survey Corps troops to protect humanity on Paradis Island. Levi earned the title of "Mankind's Best Soldier".

3. Have Immunity to Founding Titan's Ability

In the anime Attack on Titan, King Karl Fritz takes a member of the Eldia to Paradis Island after losing to Marleyan in the Great Titan War. The main purpose of Karl Fritz doing this was to avoid war with the Marleyans or other countries. In addition, this was also done by Karl Fritz because he was fed up with the behavior of the Eldia who liked to war and disturbed the peace of other human beings.

Well, to avoid a conflict of continuity, Karl Fritz also erased the memory of war or life in another country from the Eldia who had moved to Paradis Island. This is done by using the power of the Founding Titan within the King.

Even so, it turns out that the Founding Titan's ability doesn't work against the Ackerman clan so it still has memories of war or the outside world. The factor that causes this to happen is still related to the experiments carried out on their ancestors. Hence, the Ackerman clan can be said to be a very special people than the other Subjects of Ymir.

4. Surviving the Persecution

Still related to the previous point, there was a huge impact on the lives of the Ackerman clan after their memory failed to be erased. This is because the Ackerman clan, which had always been loyal to the Kingdom of Eldia, actually opposed the plan of Karl Fritz who wanted to live in peace and without war. Of course, this became a problem for the royal side considering the abilities possessed by the clan.

Therefore, the royal party also carried out the persecution of the Ackerman clan until it was threatened with extinction. Seeing this, the leader of the Ackerman clan sacrificed himself, promising that his members would not tell the history of the war or the outside world to their descendants. This is what makes Mikasa, Kenny, and Levi does not know about their true history even though they are from the Ackerman clan.

Even so, the hunt for the Ackerman clan continued after the sacrifice. As a result, all members of Ackerman are forced to survive with difficulty and live in remote mountain areas or very slum Underground cities. This is also one of the reasons why they have good survival skills in the Attack on Titan anime.

5. Using Titan's Power in Human Form

As discussed in the first point, the Ackerman clan is the result of experiments conducted by the Eldia Kingdom. Well, it turns out that the experiment then made all members of the Ackerman clan have a 'super' power which was a factor in why they could be overpowered. This power is often referred to as "awakened power".

This 'super' power makes them have physical abilities that are far above the average human being. Not only that, but they can also gain fighting experience from previous Ackerman clan members through paths. It was suspected that the experiment allowed the Ackerman clan to access the power of the Nine Titans, without having to have a transformation from one of the Titan types.

However, these 'super' powers do not act immediately when they are born. “Awakened power” can only be activated if they are in a situation that threatens their life. For example, Mikasa was originally just an ordinary girl. However, when she is kidnapped and her life is threatened, her clan's 'super' power is activated so that it can easily kill the kidnapper even though she is only 9 years old.

Then, Eren also had time to say that the power of the Ackerman clan can only be active if its members have found a host or figure they trust. In this case, Mikasa's host figure is Eren who saves her from her kidnappers and also becomes the first moment of the rise of her 'super power.
