This makes sense because it's clear based on the fictional Cold War setting of Spy x Family, that all parties engage in clandestine operations in some form to undermine or directly attack the other.

It is clear that whatever this experiment may be, the goal is there from the start to create some kind of weapon or asset to fight the opposing side in the conflict.

This certainly has dark implications for the origin of her powers, especially when one begins to ponder unanswered questions.

Only a bit of fairly general background is ever given in the first episode of Spy x Family with regards to Anya's history and powers.

Most of the important details are left open, such as the experiments they performed on toddlers.

What was the nature of the 'accident' that gave her this ability?

Or was Anya somehow genetically engineered with unwanted abilities?

Even Loid Forger had time to trace Anya's origins when he was about to adopt her. Maybe in the next episode, there will be a surprise from his adopted son to the viewers.
